Get Silky Smooth Skin This Summer With Laser Hair Removal
It’s summer and that means short skirts, swimsuits, and halter tops. Is your skin as smooth and free from unwanted hair as you’d like? If not, there’s a quick and easy solution. Laser hair removal can leave your skin sleek and ready for a day at the pool or a night out on the town.
Just one laser hair removal treatment can provide a 10-25% reduction in unwanted hair. At Lasercare Skin Clinic in Little Rock, Arkansas, we provide aesthetic laser hair removal options to leave you looking and feeling your best.
Laser hair removal 101
We can use lasers specifically designed and approved for hair removal on most parts of your body. You can ask us to provide treatment for multiple areas if you wish, and for best results, we usually recommend multiple treatments.
The laser device sends intense pulses of light that last only a fraction of second. The light travels through the skin to the hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the follicle and making it less able to regrow the hair.
Before laser hair removal
Before we approve you for laser hair removal, we discuss your medical history, lifestyle, and any medications you may take. We need to know if you:
- Have a tendency to scar easily
- Have tanned recently
- Have a keloid (raised scar) in the treatment area(s)
- Have cold sores or genital herpes
- Take isotretinoin (a medicine used to treat severe acne)
- Take any other over-the-counter or prescription medication, vitamins, or supplements
You can shave a few days before your treatment, but not the day of or the day before. Don’t wax or use depilatory creams, either. A short growth of hair makes the treatment more effective.
During laser treatment
We ask you to lay back comfortably during your laser hair removal treatment, although you don’t have to disrobe other than what is necessary to access the treatment area(s). We apply a cooling gel to protect your skin and have you wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from the flashes of light.
We then pass the hand-held laser wand over the area being treated. Most patients describe the procedure as feeling like the sensation of a rubber band snapping your skin.
After laser hair removal
Follow your aftercare instructions for best results and to avoid discomfort. Do not tan (outdoors or indoors) or use a sunless tanner. Be vigilant about applying and reapplying sunscreen, using one that has a sun-protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more and that is water-resistant if you plan to go swimming.
You might have a little redness and swelling, but cold packs can minimize discomfort, and you can go back to your normal activities right away.
If you need multiple treatments, we can schedule you for a series of sessions, after which you can expect to be hair-free for months. To schedule a consultation, call us at our Little Rock office today.
